Our Story

We’re more than just talk. We know that affirmations don’t always manifest in our lives from simply talking about them. We believe in being about them. Because it also takes moments and actions to inspire you to definitively step into your light and, we cannot stress this enough, reclaim the narrative within.

Our story formed, much like many transformational breakthroughs, from a space of intentional reflection and connection. Creators Aaron and Mykala developed the concept for Paper Therapy in 2020 after coming together as total strangers through a project known as Distant Connections. The pair harbored a mutual passion for mental health advocacy and, within 24 hours, created an idea that held the power to help rewrite the mind’s story. Small steps sometimes generate the greatest impact, so it began with cards. And, well, the rest is still being written.

We are a black-owned brand that radiates light in the form of daily thought-provoking prompts, affirmations, and stories. Our mindfulness cards were designed to empower you to embrace positive mental health habits that ground you in your being and shift how we view yourself and others.

Life is full of highs and lows, but you don’t have to let yourself go with it. That’s why we have Paper Therapy.

Our Mission

Even the smallest particles of light can come together to enliven the greatest spaces. That’s Paper Therapy. We offer light in the form of wellness cards designed to inspire intentional reflection, bold action and renewed thought.

The Vision

We see both an opportunity to steer movement in a lane that isn’t always accessible to people of color and a calling to create more avenues for open, candid discussion on themes that shape all.
